Mission Statement

The Office of P-12 School Partnerships is the service arm of the College of Education and serves as the liaison between the College of Education and the school districts in the EKU service region and beyond.

A principal service function of the office is the Southeast South-Central Educational Cooperative (SESC). The director of the office serves as the director of the Cooperative. The College of Education supports the work of both the P-12 School Partnership and the SESC by fully staffing the director and the assistant director’s positions as well as in-kind services of logistical and physical support.  The SESC is governed by 19 member superintendents, the Vice-President for Academic Affairs, and the Dean of the College of Education.  The SESC Board of Directors meet monthly, August through May. The SESC provides extensive professional development training for teachers, administrators, and non-certified staff in the 19 districts that hold membership in the Cooperative. Districts outside the Cooperative are invited to attend these professional development opportunities.  The SESC partners with EKU and the Kentucky Department of Education to sponsor the regional Content Leadership Networks intended to meet the demands of the Common Core State & National Standards.

The Office of P-12 School Partnership also houses and operates the Kentucky Teacher Internship Program for the EKU service region. The Director’s time and support for this program is provided by the COE, as well as that of the assistant director and program specialist. The assistant director is a certified Commonwealth trainer for the program and as such conducts numerous training sessions for KTIP committee members. The program specialist also manages a budget from the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board to operate the program in the EKU service region and to assign and pay university personnel who serve as Teacher Educators on KTIP committees.

The Office of P-12 School Partnerships and its companion, the SESC, serve as the conduit between regional school districts and EKU.  It is our intent to build an organizational climate and culture that emphasizes and recognizes an intentional approach to providing effective, high quality customer support. Our core, compelling purpose is to increase the educational attainment of all students.
